As Stacey stepped out of the car she could hear ghostly wails coming from inside the house. ”Mum are you sure this is the right address?” “Yep,” replied Stacey’s mum. As Stacey entered the house, she could smell an old musty smell all throughout the house. Jake had found an old well out in the back yard; he threw a rock in to the well. Stacey never heard it hit the bottom. That sent a freezing cold shiver up her spine. As the night slowly loomed closer, Stacey could hear the tin rattling on top of the well. She finally drifted off to sleep. Stacey woke and looked at her alarm clock it had just turned midnight. She could hear soft footsteps outside her old torn and partly tattered door. She could see a shadow. The shadow looked like the owner was a very over grown sheep. To Stacey’s relief her brother Jake jumped out in his Halloween costume “Go away. “ Stacey grumbled. As the clock turned 1:52am a strange wail came from outside. Stacey hid under her doona cover to try and escape the deathly sound. But the noise surrounded her as if she was drowning in them. If Stacey had woken up to birds chirping, and a lovely breakfast on her bedside table. She would have known it would be a great day. If she woke up to a thunder storm and a horrid smell (like Stacey did) she knew it wasn’t going to be very pleasant. But anyway she jumped out of bed to face the day. As she opened the door the foul smell got stronger, she stepped outside her door to find her small feet covered in lumpy, green, murky algae like goo. ”Ewe” Stacey whispered to herself. She could see the gooey prints trail from the room they lead down to the old brick well. She stumbled past her room, to notice the green, murky goo on her door knob and the end of her bed. Stacey felt shivers zap up her spine like little bullets. She carefully stepped towards the kitchen. To find her mum staring into space with her mouth open wide, Stacey knew her mum quite well and knew that she would never ever do a thing like that. She walked past to find her brother sitting on a stool watching TV. “Hey Jake” asked Stacey worried “What’s up with mum?” I don’t know she been like that all morning!” replied Jake. Stacey oped the cupboard. Out of the corner of her eye she could see two puncher marks on the left side of her mum’s neck. The same murky green goo colour on her floor. That morning as Stacey took the bus to school. She saw the tin rattling on the well once again .At school she couldn’t think straight. All she could only think about the grass and the weeds on the old well. Stacey woke up. The door started to open. A half rotting creature dressed in rags, covered in the same murky green goo that was splattered all over her door was staring at her. The creature let out a deafening screech and started its chainsaw. It chased Stacey out the door and into the backyard. Coming closer. Closer Stacey backed away the well got closer and closer until... Stacey toppled over the edge of the well. With one hand hanging on and the other hand was hanging on to a loose brick. Stacey held on for her dear life. “It’s been so long!” The half rotting creature screeched. ”I was the 5 year old girl that fell into the well decades ago! I have finally found a replacement,” it complained. The creature struck its chainsaw at Stacey’s small hand. Still grabbing on to a sturdy brick. Stacey moved her hand just in time. The chainsaw sawed the brick in half, which caused the well to rumble. Moans came from below. Stacey felt a cold, wet, boney hand grab her ankle. It started to pull from below. The bricks started to fall one by one until Stacey could feel the grass and dirt under her long finger nails .the bricks sated to fall out of place. Falling, falling, falling “Get away you horrible ghoul!” shouted a familiar voice. “Jake!” thought Stacey. Jake jumped violently on the ghouls back. The creature flung Jake over its back and down into the well. Jake was gone forever. Stacey started to climb up the well .The ghoul pushed the crumbling bricks down on top of Stacey. Knowing that she couldn’t keep up the fight any longer .She let go of the bricks leaving her falling, falling into the sheet of murky darkness below. Stacey and Jake were gone forever and the creature was free to roam the lands for ever more.
