When the clock strikes twelve
Creaking noises came from down stairs. As they got louder and louder, I jumped under my sheets for protection. Suddenly my bedroom door started to creak open. As scared as I was, I ran to my bedroom door to switch on my light, but nothing happened. I held my breath in panic mode to listen to the haunting sounds. All I could hear were whispers that got quieter and quieter. Now there was nothing but dead silence. I quickly reached out to my bedroom door handle, it was freezing cold. Once I put on my dressing gown, the power was back on and so were all the lights. When I got to the living room the TV turned on showing a picture of my mum and dad with pale white bodies’ fiercely screaming out my name.
“Eva... Eva... Eva.” I started to shake. I grabbed the remote to turn it off when the doorbell rang.
‘Who could that be?’ I thought to myself. When I got to the door the red and blue lights blinded me. “Ma’am, do you understand that your parents have died?” The policeman asked.
“No. Why? What happened?” I asked.
“Well they were reported missing and a couple of days later we found them dead out of shock in the cornfields. We are very sorry Ma’am and we think it may be leading to you but that’s not the reason why we came out here. We heard reports of suspicious sounds and activities around your house. Is everything ok?”
“Yeah, well actually some weird things have been going on. “ I mumbled.
“We will come back in a couple of days, so stay safe and sleep well.” He replied.
“Yes, thank you officer, have a good night.” I added as I closed the door. Suddenly a high pitched, evil laugh came from the kitchen. “What is this?” there was writing on the wall that noted ‘Don’t worry... We’ll be back!’ Right there and then I fainted.

I remembered fainting in the kitchen but how did I get in the car? Now I was scared. I raced back into the house to get dressed and I looked into my mirror only to find that it had been shattered. Later that day I bought an Ouija board to try and work out what and who was trying to scare me to death. I got a call from the police checking in on me.
“How is everything?” the officer asked.
“Yes, I’m good thank you, everything is fine.”
“Well, that’s good, I think I’ll have to leave it there but I will see you tomorrow.”
“Okay, bye.” I replied.
The day passed so quickly and I didn’t know what lay ahead on this full moon of a night. Suddenly everything was cold. As I felt the goose bumps rise on my arm, I realised something was moving out of corner of my eye. It was the Ouija board. Something was trying to communicate with me. After finally figuring out what it said, I knew I was in danger. I called the police for help.

“Hello, I bought an Ouija board. I’m not sure what this thing is trying to say but all I got was
‘When the clock strikes twelve!’ I mumbled frantically. I realised why no one answered. The phone was cut off. Then the window opened, sending in a deadly breeze. There was something floating in the air. A burned picture of me when I was six. I had nowhere to go as all the doors locked one by one. Horrific, thrilling, monstrous sounds filled my ears. It was 11:30pm. “Half an hour before the adventure starts!” I screamed waiting for an answer. I curled up in the corner and trembled for ages. Before I knew it, it was 12:30, what had happened? As I walked down the hall, there was shattered glass and scratches down the halls. Suddenly, something grabbed me and pushed me against the wall.

“Ahhhhh!” I cried out to the empty hallway. Who? What? How was this happening? Suddenly a shadow of my mum flew past. She whispered in my ear.
“No where to go... I have your soul... you’ll never wake up to your normal self...”
Then nothing but dead silence toppled this haunted house. I started to see the room moving and ghostly shadows flying around me, surrounding me. Mum was right, I had nowhere to go but it didn’t have to end like this, I just knew it. I ran up the stairs, the phone rang but I didn’t answer. I saw on the caller ID, it was coming from next door. As the dark shadow saw me glaring at them, he gave me a wave and rang again. This time I picked up the phone. All I could hear was deep breathing. I looked around the room and looked back. It was gone. Suddenly murderous noises crept heavily in my ear then the dark shadow arrived at my door.
“What? You’re dead!” I shrieked.
“No! Everyone thinks I’m dead, but we never were. Although that was the past and it’s time, it’s you your mother wants and it’s you she shall get. Don’t worry, this won’t hurt too much.” He replied.
“But why?” I asked.
“When we got mad at you, you tried to burn down our bedroom while we were sleeping. We didn’t throw you out, you left.” He shouted. “I never died, your mother did. They had us in coffins, I escaped, and your mother didn’t. I’m very sad because I made the choice to leave her when I could have saved her. That’s not important now.” He sighed. “I’ve come to take you to the afterlife so we can be a family again.”

And with that, a broken heart ended my young life. Dad was right; we were a family once more.
